Languedoc-Roussillon Regional Health Agency

The Languedoc-Roussillon Regional Health Agency was created on 1 April 2010 and is one of 26 regional agencies in France.

The Regional Health Agencies are administrative public establishments that group together the country’s forces and medical insurance at a regional level. Their mission is to guarantee the joint control of the health system from the regional level. They are responsible for health safety, for prevention actions carried out in the regions and for the organisation of health service provision in accordance with the public’s needs, including structures to house the elderly and the handicapped. To deliver on patient needs they also guarantee a more coherent and efficient focus of health policies targeted at the territory and permit the enhanced flow of health service provisions.

The Languedoc-Roussillon Region

The Languedoc-Roussillon Regional Council sponsored the project related to drafting a preliminary study for the creation of a cross-border hospital in the Cerdanya area in 2003.

Between 2007 and 2009, during its presidency of the Pyrenees Labour Community, the Languedoc-Roussillon community established a commitment to the development of French-Spanish collaboration projects by local agents, including the Hospital de Cerdanya project.
